Apple takes over HTC's home country, iPhone 6 most popular smartphone in Taiwan

HTC's home country of Taiwan is now devoted to Apple, according to new sales data. The iPhone 6 has driven Apple's rise in the region, and of the top ten best selling smartphones in Taiwan last month, various models of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus stole a total of four of those spots.
That's a whole lot of Apple love from the country that HTC typically dominates.

HTC still managed to slide into second place in overall sales volume, with Samsung, Asustek, and Sony trailing behind. Taiwan has a population of just over 23 million people, which is about the same as Australia and a bit less than the state of Texas, if you're looking for comparisons.

Apple ranked as the number one smartphone vendor in the Taiwan market in November, in terms of both sales volume and sales value, according to data compiled by local retail channels.
Powered by strong sales of iPhone 6 devices, Apple took a 24.6% share in sales volume and 48.9% share in sales value in the local handset market in November, up 1pp and 2pp, respectively from a month earlier.
HTC ranked second in terms of sales volume, followed by Samsung Electronics, Asustek Computer, Sony Mobile Communications, InFocus, Taiwan Mobile, Honor (Huawei), Nokia and Far EasTone Telecommunications.
However, Samsung led sales in the Android-based smartphone segment, buoyed by strong demand for Galaxy Note 4. Samsung also took the second position in terms of sales value.
The top-10 best-selling models in November were iPhone 6 Plus 64GB, iPhone 6 64GB, Galaxy Note 4, iPhone 6 Plus 16GB, iPhone 6 16GB, Xperia Z3, HTC Desire 816, HTC One M8 16GB, ZenFone 5 16GB, HTC Desire 820 dual-sim.
Total handset shipments in the Taiwan market reached 755,000 units in November compared to 869,000 units shipped a month earlier, according to the data.
